In the future, the virtual world will be a trend of "new media". The user turned on the computer and put on a portable device at the same time, and then many different screens appeared in front of him. Or when the user comes home and wants to watch a movie, he puts on the device while watching the big screen hovering in the air, while busying his work. People can truly "integrate" into the virtual world, break the boundary between virtual and reality, and directly manipulate virtual objects. There will be many cool conditions that we can hardly imagine now. For example, you can "take" a file from your mobile phone and pass it to your friend. After he receives it, you can "put it" directly into the mobile phone to complete the file transfer. Or you can also see an advertisement for a vase while watching TV, reach out and "pull" the vase out of the TV, place it on the table to see the effect, and then place an order to buy it. And I believe this new type of "new media" will make work and life more convenient and fun.

Wiki So Far
In term paper, I chose the topic of Social Networking: A Purposeful Loss of Privacy. So I contribute wiki content for Privacy in our class wiki. In my paper, I think encryption is an important method to protect users' privacy. And it's also commonly used by the government and industries. I am editing the Encryption page of Privacy in the class wiki.
I plan to expand encryption from my paper and discuss encryption in four parts. They are the definition of encryption, three major components of encryption, the encryption process, and types of encryption. I hope the content of encryption can help us to understand how users' privacy issues are dealt with.

P2P
File sharing offers access to digital information or resources, which are documents, videos, images, and e-books. File sharing includes both private and public distribution of resources in social networking with different methods. Different types of file sharing are removable storage devices, centralized file hosting server installations on the network, hyperlinked documents, and P2P.
P2P is peer-to-peer file sharing, it's the most popular file-sharing method. P2P users locate shared data with third-party software. And P2P file sharing allows users to directly access, download, and edit files. However, P2P file sharing is controversial because it uses peer-to-peer software, and people concerned about their privacy issues.
P2P file sharing is popular and common, so there are many examples. First, P2P file sharing is used in lending music. As the article Peers Find Less Pressure Borrowing From Each Other said "The Internet has managed to disrupt many industries, from publishing to music. So why not lending?" The article also mentions that Google is building up the nation's largest peer-to-peer lender. Therefore, there is a huge lending club for providing convenience for people. The article Online Piracy and the Emergence of New Business Models shows the other example of P2P. It's Apple's iTunes online music service which has more than 200,000 songs from a wide range of artists and labels. There is no doubt that P2P is easy to be used, as the article describes iTunes that "The songs were offered in industry-standard Dolby Advanced Audio Coding format. which allowed for CD-quality sound and better data compression, and enabled users to hold more music and store files more quickly."

Privacy
Today new media plays an important role in people’s daily lives, and with better technology, people are enjoying the convenience of new media. But people are also losing their private and security information when they are using new media. Such as phone numbers, address information, private photos and personal interest. Technology makes data and information widespread, providers who provide new media platforms collect, store and use users’ information for more profits. Therefore, people are facing the risk of their personal information will get stolen by others and feel their personal lives are being tracked. In the article of Facebook Privacy Is So Confusing Even the Zuckerberg Family Photo Isn't Private, the author shows us that users' not-friend get access to private photos by Facebook's privacy setting. As the article warns that "Facebook privacy settings are too confusing, and if you really don't want intimate photos out there, don't put'em on Facebook."

Advice
If I am hired by Baruch College to use new media to improve the College, I will focus on new media in the classroom and new media tools for education. We can use the social media platform to broadcast updates and alerts. Such as Facebook could incorporate into the classroom. Every student can follow their class's Facebook Page and see instructors' class updates, homework assignments, and discussion. Or Colleges can use Instagram for students' photo essays. At the same time, students practice digital storytelling on social media platforms.
On the other side, new media for College education marketing is huge. Colleges can use new media to create their own school websites. It's easy for parents and students to understand our College's culture and every place of our College. The College even creates a different insight into campus life. And by social media platforms, Colleges can share their events and nice photos. It's helpful for our College to attract more new students. The College also can create interest-based groups on social media platforms. Therefore, many students can be involved in their Colleges after they leave. It increases engagement and school spirit.

HW Creativity
There is no doubt that new media change our world totally and bring us more creativity and convenience. Today virtual worlds are used in new media and encourage more and more people to be creative. Such as videographers, expert advisors, and musical artists. Moreover, in daily life, the creativity of new media is combined with computers, telephones, the internet, and web 2.0. New media changed the situation that the media were extremely expensive to be owned. Today, it's easy for everyone to enjoy and own new media and even have more creativity in new media. The article of Creators, Audiences, and New Media: Creativity in an Interactive Environment describes the media revolution as "The media emphasis on traditional genres such as print books has limited the examination of the distribution of these works. New media scholarship explores the ways media creation software and online distribution can complicate creativity and provide new avenues for distribution." The most benefit of the media revolution is that it gives people creativity and convenience.
The convenience of new media encourages more people to participate in the creativity of new media because today's computers and cellphones are easier to use. Here is an example of my daily life, I usually subscribe to many channels that post much daily life vlogs on YouTube. These vlogs are short and interesting. The article YouTube Traffic Characterization analysis global YouTube characteristics and they found that "short duration videos are more likely to be popular". This is a trend of vlogs and video record, and these characteristics attribute more user's willing on new media because it's easier to edit and has less time cost.

Creativity and New Media
I use a new media tool (edit video application) to create a vlog. I use this vlog to show how the virtual world changes my daily life. I want to introduce one virtual game which is called RingFit Adventure. This game provides a gym environment even you just at home. Moreover, compared with the gym, this game provides more fun at exercising. Especially during COVID-19, I can't go to the gym to do daily exercise. This game can instead of the gym in some way. In my opinion, this is a good example of creativity in virtual games.
And here is a link with my vlog that records some part of doing exercise in the game in my family's daily life. <https://youtu.be/wz-XlEzZRuI>
