Blog Social networking

First of all, these technologies can be used in the company’s works. Technologies improve working quality and enhance workers’ communication. There is no doubt that social networking changes the method of working. and moreover, people can use these technologies to develop their hobbies and interest. Each one could share something that they are interested in on their social media and could find more information form other’s social web. Actually, people can’t live without these technologies because social networking becomes one part of our daily life. Social networking enriches our social relationships and improves our life qualities.
In my opinion, these technologies have two sides. On one hand, there are a lot of benefits to these technologies in society. Social networking technology is important for today's communication. People use social networking to make more friends, sharing their interests, and even job recruiting. In the article of Social Networking Technology Boots Job Recruiting, Frank stated that “Professional recruiters have started hunting for job candidates using social networking technology-like the kind found on the popular sites MySpace and Facebook.” Compared with traditional job recruiting, this job recruiting with technology is more convenient and has more resources.
On the other hand, there is also a “dark side” of social networking technology. More and more issues come up with the development of technology. Such as privacy issues, sexual harassment on social networking, and bad health or medical advice. More and more people are realizing social networking technology has a big privacy problem. In the article Facebook Privacy Is So Confusing Even the Zuckerberg Family Photo Isn’t Private, Zuckerberg found the stranger got access to her family photo and it seems like that Facebook’s privacy setting doesn’t work at all. That makes more people concern about their personal security. As they said, “This is normal, however, when the individual concerned has come to public attention as a result of their own actions, or are otherwise relevant to an incident currently in the news when they may expect to be the subject of some media scrutiny.”
In conclusion, social networking technology makes people’s life more convenient, but at the same time, there are still many personal issues. In the future, these technologies will develop with more restrictive rules and a more strict private setting.

Blog v Wiki

A blog is an online journal that displays information on the website. It has a reverse-chronological format, and it also links to news articles, documents, and other blogs. Wiki is like a crowdsourced library of knowledge and it has strong team support. Blog and Wiki are similar in sharing knowledge and new information. However,  they have many differences. The blog has limited collaboration while Wiki has unlimited teamwork. Moreover, the blog is built to attract attention to its own business and product, the blog brings personal news and information which affect this world. As Kathy state this point in her article that “Some analysts suggest that blogs are poised to be the next generation opinion/editorial page. Bloggers already carry out the role of grassroots reporter and fact-checker.”  And wiki doesn’t benefit from the content and it is more professional.

The convergence of the networking world offers convenience and flexibility. Today we can’t leave media and technology and we do many things like video streaming, internet shopping, and media social with peers. There is no doubt that convergence networked world is the evolving networking and systems. Network convergence includes a multi-model communication platform that can broaden our use. I believe blogs and wikis are both the results of network convergence.

Even though the blog has limited collaboration, it still can be used for collaboration. We can see some functions of the blog are good for teamwork, such as blogrolls and comments under blogs. There are links and contents of other people in the blogroll, it’s helpful for us to keep in touch with our peers. People can use the blog’s comments to tighten their communications. In the article Brooklyn Blog Helps Lead to Drug Raid, we see how neighborhoods use blogs to help them deal with drug problems. As this article said “a core group of seven people who met through the blog brought the case to the attention of the community board …… A group of people who did not know each other came together and traded information.”

Wiki develops many different fields, like education and shopping. My idea about the new use of a wiki is that connection with eating and dining. Each dining can create their own wiki community and they can work with the consumer. They can edit information about the dining and the food together.

Social Networking: A Purposeful Loss of Privacy

I chose to do my project on the Analysis of social networking: a purposeful loss of privacy. I think losing privacy becomes a big issue of today social networking, as a lot of people post their full birthday, address, telephone number, this risk of identity theft is increasing. I would some examples of how social networking has a negative impact on privacy. However, I believe privacy problems are caused by both users and websites. Therefore, I will discuss this question from two aspects. This is my brief summary of my project, and I plan to get more great details.
